The floodlighted Prague´s castle is delightful from many views. Especially the III. courtyard creates the ceremonial atmosphere. Mainly it is caused by the architecture of the monumental south frontage of the Cathedral of St. Vitus with mighty high tower and gothic supporting system of its oldest part. Also two high towers in a new-gothic style evoke respect in the west frontage.

A part of the courtyard is occupied by the building of Staré/Old probošství with evident masony´s remains of the original romanic building. The III. courtyard in today´a appearance is designed after the project of the slovene architect Josip Plečnik. He also successfuly handled not easy task to roof a large archeological excavation in this area. It happened after  origin of the Czechoslovakia republic in 1918 and after the election of T.G. Masaryk as a president. It was decided to fully retrieve the historic mansion of the czech monarchy. Right for this project the architect Josip Plečnik was send for. Within the mentioned above the complex of the Prague´s castle was at the same time enriched by a lots of pieces of art. One of them is also the mighty monolith from the „mrákotín“ granite with its total height of 15 m and 50 centimetres. It is located on the III. courtyard and is presented as the memorial to victims of the World War I. The monolith which its stand is from the „liberec“ granite was supplemented on the 13th of May 1996. At that time the two metres high pyramidal construction gilded by tabular gold has been settled on its top. Against this in a neighbourhood there is a „riding“ statue of St. George standing, which is a significant monument of gothic metal founding. It was casted by George and Martin from Kluže already in 1373.

On the south side the courtyard is enclosed by complex called the City tract. Its present appearance is from the reconstruction in the era of Marie Terezie, when it was connected with the Old royal palace on the east side. From the III. courtyard there is also accession onto Plečníkovo Bulls stairways leading into the south gardens of the Prague´s castle from 1929-1931.
